I can’t believe we are almost thru the month of April. Is time flying or is it just me? The grass is greening up and the flowers are blooming. It’s a beautiful time of year. I love to watch everything come to life.
My bible study a few evenings ago was Ecclesiastes Chapter 3 about seasons in our life and it spoke to me as I read it. A time to weep and a time to laugh. A time to mourn and a time to dance. A time to plant and a time to pluck up that which is planted. So many seasons In our lives on a daily basis.
This brought to mind the blog I posted previously about cultivating marriage. To cultivate means to prepare or work on. A marriage definetly takes work. Not just seasonal but all the time. Meaning what you put in, is what you’ll get out. If you are lazy, mean, hateful, uncaring, unthankful and degrading what do you think will come out of it? Yep, exactly. All of the above. Try showing love, compliments, thanks, a helping hand and kind words. Even if both partners aren’t doing this, before long with kindness and God’s love you will reap a wonderful marriage. Try looking for positive traits in your spouse and not negative. No one is perfect. Oh, and you can still flirt and go on dates. We do, in fact we love going on dates even after 30 years. We love to dress up and I will even turn on songs that were played when we dated back In the 80’s and listen as we drive. I leave Phil notes or cards, whether in the shower his lunch box or in his car and send texts frequently. This only takes a few minutes but is important for a wonderful marriage. Why not let him know he is STILL the man of my dreams?!
In the world we live today marriage isn’t worked on very much and often ends in divorce if it doesn’t match up to what TV says it should. Young people are expecting a fairy tale marriage as seen in movies. If you feel your marriage is NOT what you want it to be try the following steps:
1. Put Christ first in your life
2. Pray, pray, pray
3. Show kindness, love, be caring. and lend a helping hand.
4. Look for positive traits
4. Watch and expect (faith)
If you haven’t taken the leap of marriage, are in a relationship or looking for your soul mate. Start doing the steps as well with people you date. God will send the perfect match to you. Phil told me this week that he CUSTOM ordered me thru prayer and that’s why he is so happy. Wow…that made my day. ♡
Ecclesiastes 3:11 says…
He hath made everything beautiful in his time and that just what he did for our marriag.
May we ever ask for guidance of the one who knows it all. God is able and will provide you a love for your spouse that you will be amazed with. Try it and see!!!
Prayers for all of you,
I am Blessed Beyond Measures,
It’s a beautiful day here in the Ohio valley. As I walked out for work this morning I could hear the birds singing and feel the freshness of spring. I immediately looked up and said “Thank you Lord for this beautiful day.”
As many of you know the past year has been rough for us. With over 10 deaths in our family including our Beautiful Granddaughter. We don’t understand why things happen but have learned to draw closer to family and especially cling closer to God. I can truly say “I have a longing to go to heaven more now than ever before.”
About a month ago I was at one of the lowest times in my life and wasn’t even sure what was going on. I would cry uncontrollably but yet felt so loved by God. During this time I felt I needed to pause, focus on Christ and his word and go in a garden alone with him as he did prior to his sacrifice for us on the cross. During this time he laid on my heart to start this blog. Honestly, I wasn’t even sure what a blog was and continue to learn more about blogging daily. My prayer is thru this blog someone will be uplifted, encouraged and learn to TRUST more in God, as I have.
Today I decided to show pictures of my coffee bar. I LOVE COFFEE anytime of day, so I put a bible verse I cling to alot on my board, so every time I get a cup I am reminded to trust in him and he will guide me where I need to go.
Trust In the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV
Hobby Lobby is one of my favorite stores for decorating. This is where I buy a lot of the items on my walls. I purchased the slate board here. It was inexpensive and I personalized it myself with a chalk pen. I also l purchased the cream and sugar containers and the door knob hanger at Hobby Lobby. I like to shop at Marshall as well. I can find unique items here at a low price to add to my country decor. (Click above to be linked directly to the store)
Happy Decorating!!! 🙂
As you walk thru this life daily not sure of which path to take. Seek Christ, TRUST in him, and he will lead you where you need to go. Anytime you need prayer, message me and I will pray for you.
Praying you have a week blessed by God.
As you can already see…
I am Blessed Beyond Measures,
It’s Easter Friday,
As I sit here and ponder what took place over 2000 years ago on Good Friday and 3 days later, it warms my heart. Just to think that someone would die and rise again for someone as unworthy as me.
I love Easter for many reasons, first and foremost Christ’s death, burial and resurrection, baskets for my children and grandchildren and time with family. Many, many blessings!!!
We got together this week and made some things with my daughter Brittany, my daughter-in-law Jaycee and my Grandbabies, Addelynn-3, Eden-11 months and Beckett- 7 months. I have enclosed some pictures so you can see how fun it was.
The grand babies had a blast making Easter treats with us 🙂
It was so cute and kept all 3 of us girls busy keeping them out of things.
Then it was on to filling eggs for our upcoming egg hunt with candy and money. The 2 smaller ones tried to eat these as well. Lol.
We made a lot of memories and a big mess but it was so worth it.
Family time is so important around our house and I am thankful for all the time we spend together.
Hope you have some Easter plans with you family this weekend. Make sure you find a good place to go and worship the worthy Lamb.
BLESSED BEYOND MEASURES,
You have made it thru half of the week, not just any week, but a week to reflect on what Christ did for us and the reason our family celebrates Easter. So thankful for the Salvation plan and the blood he shed for me. What a change he has made in my life.
I am looking forward to spending some time with my family this week for some wonderful food, worship and of course an Easter egg hunt. I hope to share some pictures in an upcoming blog to show you some of my blessings!!!
Most of you know that the title of my blog and web page is “BLESSED BEYOND MEASURES.” Let me explain… The “Blessed” is self explanatory but “Beyond Meaures” may pose some questions. When I was trying to choose a name for my blog the family helped me choose this one. I’m not skinny by any means, in fact I fall a bit on the chunky side. “Beyond Measures” was so fitting because no matter what size we are, we are all made in his image.
Psalms 139:15 says “We are fearfully and wonderfully made.”
With that being said I try my best to be as attractive as possible and have found Joy in what God has given me.
When I was in high school, a long time ago, I had a teacher who I thought was so beautiful. She said she got up every morning before her husband so she could look beautiful for him when he saw her. I thought that was the sweetest thing and would be awesome to do when I got married. So you ask me… Do I get up before my husband? Absolutely….NOT. Phil gets up for work at 3 and I don’t get up for work until after 5. Those 2 hours are precious to me.
Anyway when I rise I do my best to fix up the best I can. Sometimes I will snap a picture and send him saying “Good Morning.” There’s rarely a day that I don’t fix up and apply makeup even if we are just staying home. Getting dressed up and applying makeup makes me feel good about myself and receiving compliments from my husband always makes me smile. 😉
Of course by now you probably know that I LOVE to shop. My favorite places are the clearance racks. It’s rare for me to pay full price for anything. I head straight to these racks and almost always find something I love here, so why spend full price?
I had my son snap some pictures of me in an outfit I bought for less than $25.00. (The pants cost $6.00,the shirt 17.00, the scarf was a birthday gift and my shoes were already in my closet.) I mix match all the time and you will probably see this in future posts.
I hope this encourages you to spend some time on yourself. Take 30 minutes everyday for your self. You will be happier and the compliments you recieve with bring a smile. 🙂
Do you have any plans for Easter? I Would love to hear about your blessings.
“Blessed Beyond Measures”
Hello to all of you,
Hope today finds you with a smile on your face and love in your heart.
In todays blog I am gonna focus on marriage. Since this is the start of my blogging days I figured it would be a great time to tell you the story of how Phil and I met and where our love story began:
In 1978 a good friend of Phil’s family brought them to Rudd’s Christmas Farm (this was owned and operated by my family) to see the display. Almost every year after that Phil’s parents would bring him to the display and sometimes would bring him to a camp we took care of in Lebanon, Ohio in the summer to visit. We would ride bikes together and have acorn fights. I thought he was so cute. He didn’t even notice me at this time and continued not to notice me until I was 16. There was always a special place in my heart for this cute little boy. In December 1986 he asked me on a date. Wow the day had finally come. We started dating and almost 31 years later we continue to love each other more and more each day.
Don’t think it’s all been a fairy tale we had some rough times in the beginning of our marriage but thru prayer and God’s grace we have a God given love that I feel is rare in the world we live today.
Marriage takes work by both the husband and wife. I have heard some say it takes 50/50. I say it takes lots of prayer with Christ in the center and way more than 50/50 to keep the flame still burning. It’s like a garden if you don’t plant, cultivate, water and put things into it, it will never grow.
So keep cultivating you marriage. What you put into it is what you’ll get out. May your marriage flourish as ours has.
(If you haven’t taken the marriage leap yet. Keep praying and he will send you the right one. It will be worth the wait!)
~~ What therefore God hath joined. together, Let no man put asunder. ~~ Mark 10:9
We have been blessed to spend a few days in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee for the Grand Run. You will find out that Phil loves old cars, me not as much but as i said in marriage we give and take.
I did get some time to shop which I absolutely LOVE to do, and I got some Krispy Kreme donuts which always make me happy. 🙂
The snowcapped views of the mountains were breathtaking. How refreshing to look at God’s beauty all while spending time with the ones you love.
I am hoping you had a wonderful weekend as well. If you see someone without a smile today, give them yours.
I Continue to be….
“Blessed Beyond Measures”
I hope your day was filled with JOY even though it was Monday. In Ohio this weekend it was absolutely beautiful spring weather.
Saturday we spent the morning/ afternoon shopping with our family. We had lunch and the men went to sporting goods stores while the women ( me, my daughter, daughter-in-law and grandbabies) looked at the more important stuff. Lol. I love to shop and it makes it even more lovely when I get to take my family with me, although its not that cost efficient when your a Memaw that loves to buy for them grandbabies.
On Sundays following morning worship we usually make Sunday dinner and Have the family over. This Sunday we were blessed to have my in-laws as well. The menu included Lasagna, Chicken & Stuffing, Salad, Corn, Garlic/Cheddar Biscuits, Sweet Tea and Kool-Aid. We then finished off with a Diet Red Velvet Cake, Cantalope and small pieces of Lemon Bundt cake with Hot coffee. After lunch we sat around enjoying one another’s company, played with the babies, blew bubbles while some caught a nap. We ended the day singing praise to our maker. That’s what I call a wonderful weekend blessed by God.
I figured as my first blog I would show you all what I see when I wake up every morning. This DYI project my husband and I made for less than $20.00 is hanging on my Bathroom wall where I get ready for the day. I purchased the broken window at a yard sale for $10.00. Painted the top window with chalkboard paint and inscribed a saying that says it all. Starting your day with Jesus!!! I then placed a small piece of chicken wire on the bottom pane and stapled to the back of the window. I found and old wall shelf that I wasn’t using for anything and screwed into the bottom. I gave it a distressed paint job and you can see the finished project. I love this piece because I enjoy taking some old items and giving them a new look. I hope you like it as well!!!
As you can already see we enjoy spending time with family and I love to decorate country style. Continue to follow my blog to see more things I have created with just a little imagination and a great big God.
