Giving Makes Me Happy

Good morning,

It’s the most wonderful time of the year.  I have been raised to start preparing the Christimas decorations for the opening of “Rudd’s Christmas Farm” in September.  So when the leaves start to fall and the temperatures start getting cooler, the same feeling and excitement I had years ago come back to me.   We start celebrating the Christmas Season on Nov. 1.  In our home and in our cars the sounds of Christmas can be heard and we start breaking out the decorations.   We usually have Thanksgiving with a Christmas Tree already up, not because we want to skip Thanksgiving, just because it is part of our lives.   I was born a “Rudd” and nothing can change that.

I realize some people haven’t had good memories of Christmas as I have.   I am the youngest of 10 kids and can tell you it’s not about the gifts.  We were poor and didn’t get a lot of gifts for Christmas but we had LOVE and laughter.  That made everything alright!  The time we spent together, the carols we sang around the piano and the warm home and meal that Dad & Mom prepared was all I needed to want to share this love with my family and others.

Some carols and smells take me back to the feeling I had as a child.  The smell of oranges, the taste of peanuts and cream drops remind me of the morning of Christmas.  The bubble lights remind me of when I use to lie under our tree and watch them while Christmas music was playing, not for a few minutes but for an hour. (Phil said he did this too)   My grand children love the bubble lights as well.   I bought some and gave them each a night light.   They like to watch them too.

It seems like I have been so busy lately that I almost forgot to give something away.   I have decided to give a $25.00 gift card this year to one of my favorite stores for Christmas decorations…Hobby Lobby.

Starting today comment and share my post on my Facebook page (Blessed Beyond Measures) every time you share a post current or past your name will be in a drawing for the gift card.   The winner will drawn on December 10.

Our home is starting to look like a Winter Wonderland, the gifts are being bought and the feeling is in my heart.

May your Thanksgiving, Christmas, Holiday Season be one you will always remember.

  1. Cindy, this is another amazing list. Your descriptions of Christmas and your childhood memories evoke a beautiful picture in my mind. They cause me to want to hear more and more. Perhaps you should consider journaling all your wonderful memories and stories to write a book. I already want to read it. I can’t wait to hear more. ~❤️❤️~
